I love the grunge look. I love prim country also. I just made
a pin cushion using one of my antique spools that turned out cute.
While I was in that mode, I decided to make a grunge card
for a friend. I started with Kraft colored paper by The Paper Co.
I stamped swirls in Chestnut all over the paper. Using Versamark pad,
I stamped swirls again and heat embossed with clear emboss powder.
I distressed all around the edges and inked .
The flower petals are Sizzix, inked with Holtz
vintage photo and perfect pearls. Butterfly punch is Martha Stewart.
Vine is Sizzix, inked with Tim Holtz vintage photo and forest moss.
Buttons , burlap ribbon, glitters and glass effects
here and there. Click on image for closer detail .
Even though I made a messy inky mess, this card was the most fun to make.

Korker Flower Curls Tutorial
I've been asked by a blogger friend to do a tutorial with more detail
on how to do the little korker curls I used in the Mother's day
card flower. They are very easy. I thought a picture would tell the tale better.
Click on image above for better detail.
You can use jewelers cord, scrappers floss, silk flower wire, etc.
I used the sparkle cord up above. I applied the stiffener to the thread using
a q tip on a piece of copy paper. When it was still wet I rolled it
on a thin round stick or dowel. In the pic I used a thin paint brush.
I secured the ends with plastic clamps I found in the hardware
section of a grocery store. Michael's has small crafters clothes pins
that work great too. I let it dry overnight and it all comes off in a
stiff spiral. Cut what you need for your projects.
I had some white silk flower wire. I colored the wire using a pink ballet
prismacolor marker. I wrapped it around the thin dowel and it made a
nice korker curl. You don't need stiffener, of course, because of the inner wire.
They are a tad picky to touch but they look good too.
It's the bottom pink korker curl in the picture.
The little ribbon korkers for paper cardmaking use the same technique .
Although for hair bows, you need to heat set the curls .
I learned how to make ribbon hair bow korkers
for my granddaughters Here.
Easy Peasy !

Mother's Day Card
I just finished a Mother's Day card for my sweet Mom. She'll
be 89 next month. I've been wanting to make a few more flowers
using ribbon, so this was a good opportunity. The center rosette
I glued and wrapped around my piercer. The outer ribbons I
stitched around one side and pulled the threads together
to form circles. The curly q's I made using sparkle thread
I bought by the jewelry crafts dept.To stiffen use fabric stiffener
and wrap around a thin rod. I used
a thin paint brush handle. Secure the ends with very small clothes pins
and set it aside till it all dries. When making the bow korkers
for hair bows , it's better to heat them in a low heat oven but for cards
just having them air dry works well.
Paper by Colorbox, Spellbinder fancy tags, Martha Stewart
doily edge punch and assorted leaf punches, ribbons,
pearls , Tim Holtz inks and Glossy accents here and there.

St Patrick's Day pull tag card
Target had metallic gold foil paper by Colorbok
just begging to be made into a pot of gold card
with gold coins. Yes, you can run coins through
the Cuttlebug ! I tried anyway and it worked. Just use a Spellbinders
pad over the coin and paper before adding
the top B plate. I wasn't real happy with the way they came out and wished
I had some real gold chocolate coins instead. I'll save some from Christmas
stockings next year.
I used a 3 " circle punch for the pot, 3 " oval for the rim with a 2 1/2 "
gold foil oval for the inside of the rim. I used my craft cutter to make a
slit in the gold oval for the tag to slide through.
The bun feet for the pot is 1" circles. The shamrocks are
smallest EK Success punched hearts glued together . I used the gold
paper for the buckle punch also. When you pull the shamrocks tag up it's
stamped Hugs and Kisses in Tim Holtz forest green.
I wish I had a Kiss Me stamper instead. Things to watch for next year.

My 2nd beautiful granddaughter will turn 1 year old soon. My how
the time flies by. I made her card using a digital image I have had
since 2009 when it was offered as a freebie. The digital
image I used is by an awesome designer Kim B Designs .
She is such a sweetheart. When I asked Kim if I could
use her designs to make clusters or QP's for my blogs
Taggerpaws and Sugarpawscraps she said yes with
pleasure. Check out her blog if you love digital design !
I used Kim's Happy Cow kit for the birthday cow
image and some of the digital papers included in the kit.
The other paper scraps are
by Imaginisce All Kinds of Happy. I used liquid pearls,
glossy accents for shine, lots of glitter , stickles, liquid applique for
the frosting, pretty gem stones and metal flower stickers,
Spellbinder oval die and assorted punches for tag
and hearts .
This card was so much fun to make. Just looking at
Kim's happy cow holding a cupcake put a smile on my face.
Click on the images above to see the card in detail.

A butterfly shaped card
I wanted to try my hand at designing a butterfly card template, so
I opened my Paint Shop Pro software and messed around with vector
shapes. I know digital scrapbooking much better than paper scrapping.
Using heart vectors and eclipse I came up with this template.
I used pearlized card stock , liquid pearls and a massive amount of
pretty glitter. The antenna took me a few tries using black scrappers
floss, glue to shape and stiffen plus black liquid pearl drops.
I used a sweet sentiment from Meljen Designs . I just love her
artwork. I'm looking forward to making another card using her
awesome digistamps.
I'm sending this one to a friend. The inside simple says Thank you .
Thanks for viewing my card. I'm learning quite a lot as time goes by.
I really enjoy making these cards for those I love. I'm going to
work on a few more shaped card templates I can offer as
printable freebies. I have a pet themed one in mind already for Taggerpaws.

If Love... word art freebie !
As I mentioned in a previous post, I embellished the inside of my
yorkie embossed card with a sympathy word art I made in PSP.
I used it in gold to match the card but I also have it in black.
You're free to use it in your crafting projects. PU only.
I reduced it to 3 " for the inside of my card on ivory cardstock
and it printed beautifully.
You may get the zipped download ... HERE

Lollipop flower basket
Today at thedigichick.com there was a tutorial for a lollipop
basket. Hers is adorable and much more professional looking
than I could ever attempt. I thought I'd try my hand at it anyway.
I did not have the spiral rose
template till the yellow ones. I think those are the best
flowers for this lolly basket . I guess I will get
better at making the rose lolly flowers the more I do them. It's a cute
project to do on a snowy afternoon and the kids will love it !

Embossed edge card
I tried a new technique I learned from Gina K at Stamp TV.
She showed how to emboss around the edge of cardstock
to match the embossing powder you used for your stamp.
It's a wonderful idea and one I'll use more often.
Click on image for more detail.
Papers : Colorbox for the pink striped and DCWV designer pack
Rustic . Spellbinder fancy tag, ribbon and pearls.
I have embellished the inside with a sympathy sentiment.
I will share it as a freebie when I upload it to 4 shared tomorrow.

Freebie Word Art !
Someone asked me where I found the digital word art I used
for my easel valentine card down below. I made it in PSP . I reduced
it just enough to fit the size heart spellbinder nestie I wanted to use .
It's png. You can use any color paper ( but red) to print. It is only
300 by 150 pixels. It is a 1 inch print out for card making.
I colored in the heart using a prisma marker. Please use it if you can.
Credit and a link back to SugarPaw Scraps is very appreciated.

Blizzard and a very simple valentine card
We've been under a blizzard warning since yesterday 7 PM.
So far there has not been a let up in sight. A minute ago
I looked out to see a total white out. Hopefully it's out
of the mitten in a few hours. We'll be digging out all afternoon.
I made a very, very simple valentine card today for hubby.
He is not for all the frou frou. He likes all the cards I make
though but for him I went simple. The speciality paper I used was from
K and Company. Nestie hearts for the pull out tag and a heart sticker
here and there. That's it...easy peasy !
Stay warm. I read the Ground Hog predicts an early spring.
That's a good thought, right ?
